This is in part due to high costs of research combined with limited availability of government funds and large institutional overhead fees.

1. Gives everyone an opportunity to directly support and learn about ongoing research projects.
2. Helps labs bypass the large institutional fees that cut into their research budget.
3. Focuses on underfunded areas of research which are just as impactful as the highly funded.
